Maintenance Specialist (Irrigation Technician)
University Student Apartments Grounds is seeking an experienced Maintenance Specialist (Irrigation Technician). This position is responsible for maintaining the Student Apartments irrigation system. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, diagnosis of malfunctions and complete repairs. The Applicant must be familiar with a variety of plumbing, hand and power tools. Watering schedules are manually programmed into time clocks; with irrigation schedules being managed with an emphasis on water conservation. This position requires that the employee shall be able to proficiently operate equipment such as a backhoe, loader, trencher and tractors. This position requires that the employee shall be able to excavate water breaks with a backhoe. Snow removal is required in winter.
Advanced level trades skills to perform maintenance and repair work of equipment, machinery, appliances, utilities, buildings, facilities, fixtures, systems, etc. in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty.
Assist the vehicle mechanic with snow removal equipment and small engine repair and maintenance.
All other duties as assigned.
