Introduction: Protecting pollinators has become a major global concern, putting significant effort across multiple environments. The arid landscapes of the Pacific Northwest are known to be among the hot spots for bee diversity, which creates the need for tailored conservation programs. In this presentation, Dr. Armando Falcon-Brindis will talk about some ecological principles on insect conservation, global concerns, and what we can do to improve pollinator habitats in the western US. He will also discuss details of his program on protecting pollinators.
Our Presenter: Dr. Armando Falcon-Brindis is an Assistant Professor of Entomology at the University of Idaho. His research combines pest management, ecology, and sustainable agricultural practices. His extension program focuses on educating people about IPM, pollination, and agricultural pests and beneficials. He has published over 30 scientific articles in multiple journals and presented over 90 talks in different countries. When he is not working he loves drawing, hiking, playing soccer or playing his acoustic guitar.
