Irrigation Technician at Davis School District - Full Time
DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Grounds/Irrigation Foreman, the Irrigation Technician installs, maintains, and repairs landscape irrigation systems. This involves responsibility for the total system, including automatic valves, piping, heads, time clocks and back-flow devices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Completion of apprenticeship preferred.
* Four (4) years of experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Position may also be under-filled as an apprentice with less experience.
* Driver's license.
* Commercial Driver's License.
* Irrigation system certification preferred.
* Class 2 back flow certification required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical functions
* Knowledge of service, repair, remodel and new construction of irrigation systems
* Knowledge of irrigation codes and safety procedures
* Knowledge of IPC plumbing code
* Ability to use construction tools and equipment
* Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems
* Ability to install and repair piping and fixtures
* Ability to program temperature and timing systems
* Ability to read blueprints, legends, plot plans, configurations and charts
* Knowledge of material safety data sheets (MSDS) preferred
* Ability to operate computer required. Familiarity with WeatherTRAK (central sprinkler system control unit) required after hiring.
* Knowledge of codes and regulations relating to back flow testing and cross connections.
* Ability to maintain inventory and property.
* Ability to make budget recommendations.
* Ability to use small, medium and heavy equipment and machinery.
* Ability to repair, develop and install telecommunications systems, computer
hardware, network systems, complex software and management information systems.
