Introduction: Urban trees can develop weak structure, poor form, internal decay, and flammable dead wood when poorly managed. Pruning can improve the appearance of your trees, reduce fire risk, and maybe even moderate their water use. Learn the best practices for pruning young and mature trees to make them more resilient to drought and other hazards in urban environments.
Our Presenter: Dr. Miles Becker is an ISA Certified Arborist with experience as a tree climber, consultant, and researcher. He received his PhD in urban ecology at the University of Nevada, Reno and then worked in the tree industry for 12 years before joining Extension at USU. He works with professional arborists, landscapers, and homeowners to grow healthy and long-lived trees in Utah’s tough climates.
